In Kennebunkport, you can watch Santa Claus arrive by lobster boat during the annual Christmas Prelude, and there are many other festivities hosted throughout the holiday season. One of the best places to celebrate Christmas in New England, the town is picture-perfect, especially with holiday lights and a dusting of snow, ideal for photo-ops, while seashore holiday trolley rides, wine tasting and lobster bakes are hosted too.

The annual Tree Lighting Ceremony officially begins the season! Join in Christmas caroling with the Kennebunk High School Chamber Choir, followed by the lighting of the tree at 6:00 p.m.

A parade of holiday hats for children and adults led by the Patriot Fife and Drum Duo. Show off your handmade or store bought creations. All hat wearers welcome! Gather at the town parking lot behind Alisson's Restaurant by 2:45 p.m. Parade through Dock Square and over the bridge to Best of Everything where prizes will be awarded for various creative categories.

Join us for the lighting of the Lower Village Tree with carols by the Kennebunk High School Choir. Following the lighting, enjoy the traditional stroll to the Franciscan Monastery.

Join in Christmas caroling with a local school choir to begin the finale weekend of festivities as our Christmas Prelude continues. After the tree lighting, gather in the town parking lot behind Alisson’s Restaurant, huddle on the Mathew Lanigan Bridge, or the surrounding area to view the annual Prelude fireworks display.
